Scuba diving in Nha Trang is best from February to September, with the clearest water from May to July when visibility reaches 15-25m. Diving centres on Hon Mun, Vietnam's first marine protected area, which holds more than 350 species of hard coral. Sheltered bays, depths of 5-25m and water at 25-30°C make Nha Trang a comfortable place to learn to dive; two guided fun dives start from $75 USD.

    Why Nha Trang?

    Vietnam's #1 Dive Destination

While Thailand closes for monsoon season and Phu Quoc only dives half the year, Nha Trang stays open year-round with a world-class marine reserve

    2001
    Protected since

    Vietnam's First MPA

Hon Mun has been protected since 2001 - over 20 years of coral restoration. Vietnam's healthiest reef ecosystem.

    350+
    Coral species

    Unmatched Biodiversity

Over 350 hard coral species - more than most of Southeast Asia. Sea turtles, reef sharks, and thousands of reef fish species.

    365
    Days/year

    Year-Round Diving

Unlike Thailand (Nov-Apr only) or Phu Quoc (Nov-Apr), Nha Trang offers excellent diving 365 days/year. Spring-summer is optimal.

    20
    Min boat ride

    Perfect Accessibility

Skip the 3-hour ferry rides to Phu Quoc. Dive sites are just 20 minutes by boat from downtown. More diving time, less travel!

    26-30°C
    Water temp

    Ideal Conditions

Warm 26-30°C water year-round, no thick wetsuit needed. Calm seas, 10-25m visibility. Perfect conditions for beginners and experienced divers alike.

    45
    Day e-visa

    No Visa Hassle

45-day e-visa for most nationalities, quick and easy. Direct flights to Cam Ranh from major Asian cities. Simpler travel than Thailand or Philippines.

Why not Thailand or the Philippines?

Thailand and Philippines have amazing dive sites, but: Thailand closes 6 months/year for monsoon. Philippines requires multiple domestic flights and ferries. Both are more crowded with complex visa requirements. Nha Trang? Year-round diving, 20 minutes from downtown, easy visa, and less crowded with comparable coral quality.
